Abstract |
Background. Fraxinus excelsior is a valuable woody plant of great economic importance. On the territory of the Penza region this species is a part of broadleaved forests, however, they are not always present in them. The aim of the work is to analyze the population structure, distribution features and ecological needs of ash trees on the north-eastern border of the range.
Materials and methods. The research is carried out in the forests of nature monuments “Yasenevaya Dubrava” and “Inzensky massiv” on the territory of stationary trial plots. To determine the floristic composition, complete geobotanical descriptions were carried out. The assessment of the main ecological parameters was carried out using D. N. Tsyganov’s scales.
Results. In the communities studied, the Fraxinus excelsior populations are full-valued, normal. Ontogenetic spectra are characterized by their completeness. The most favorable conditions for the growth and development of the ash tree are in the Inzа: the ash population here is characterized by the fullness of the age spectrum of the seed individuals, there is no reduction in the number of individuals during the transition to the virgin age of the first subgroup.
Conclusions. In the communities studied, the Fraxinus excelsior populations are full-valued, normal. Ontogenetic spectra are characterized by their completeness. The most favorable conditions for the growth and development of the ash tree are in the Inzensky Massif: the ash population here is characterized by the fullness of the age spectrum of the seed individuals, there is no reduction in the number of individuals during the transition to the virgin age of the first subgroup.
